There's a big buzz in sober community about alcohol-free riesling, so I was when I saw a bottle of Dr. Loosen Sobr Sekt perusing the low and no alcohol section at my local wine shop, I was indeed buzzing.
I bought the last bottle of sparkling they had (as non-sparkling was sold out) to crack open with our Sunday roast, and whilst it was a decent enough glass of fizz, it didn't dazzle. Maybe it's the inevitable anticlimax that comes with hype, but at £10.50 a bottle, it's expensive for what you get.
Personally, Sainsbury's Aromatised Low Alcohol Sparkling Chardonnay, Taste the Difference 75cl is just as good and more budget-friendly at £3.50. It has a complex taste more akin to a white wine that hasn't been dealcoholised.
Save your pennies and head to Saino's.
