Low and no alcohol beers have come along way. Kaliber was the only offering back in the day. Snubbed by designated drivers at parties, it could remain unopened for months. Luckily for those wanting a bottle or two without the booze, zero beers are now ubiquitous. Most large lager brands have an alcohol free versions: Peroni, Stella and Moretti to name a few of the major players. You can get zero beers in pubs, restaurants and probably your local corner shop.
I had a particularly stressful day at work last week, something that would have predicated coming home with bags clinking. Well, I did go to the shop but came back with a four-pack of Corona Cero. These went down blissfully. The taste of Cero is the same as standard Corona and it rates highly elsewhere. It could be the placebo effect but I felt as relaxed as if I had an alcoholic drink. I'm unsure if it is a good thing my brain is still hardwired to see beer as a stress reliever but at least the eradication of alcohol meant that I was fresh and regret-free in the morning.
